These are great tips! Just today I came up with one myself: Let the kid search for something he wants among boxes labeled with words!
My 5-year-old and his dad set up a “book of the month” plan: He chooses a book, they scan the cover picture into the computer and print it, and they put it into a frame on his wall, where it replaces the previous month’s.
Something I enjoyed once I had started reading was playing librarian. My dad would come into my room pretending it was the library, and I’d recommend books I thought would interest him.
