  1. Thanks for the link to the list. That Half Price Books deal is great – a $3 store credit each week — and $3 goes a long way at the Half Price Books!

Just had to share about the one time Clare was reading a book while walking behind me in a grocery store parking lot (I had my eye on her or so I thought). She walked right into a pole with her nose in her book. I could do nothing buy laugh, and she was super embarrassed thinking someone from school might have saw it happen.

Read on & hopefully we’ll see you around town at a library event!

We’ve already been to the library several times this summer. I love how they have a summer reading program for the kids to encourage them to read. Our church does the same thing with a different theme each year.

There is a program called Book Adventure, sponsored by Sylvan Learning Center, where kids can take quizzes on the books they’ve read (5-10 questions) and earn points. Parents can set up their own rewards for their children or use existing ones. I used this with my kids when they were little and they loved it. They have extensive book list that you can use to select books in a particular interest area.

I found out our library has an ADULT summer reading program as well as a kids program, with fun drawings for prizes! It’s not just for kids!

We LOVE our summer reading program! It’s the highlight of our summer. Somehow those ridiculous cheap ‘made in China’ prizes hold incredible motivational powers. :-)

Thanks for that list. On Tuesday I took my daughter to Barnes and Noble to pick up her free book – but I had no idea about the Borders program! None of the others are near us unfortunately.
