As I mentioned yesterday we are full on in Christmas mode around here. And as Hannah prepares to sing in the Christmas program, that means a whole lot of “Jingle Bells” around here. And unfortunately the CD she prefers is a Jimmy Buffet Christmas. And unfortunate leftover from the hubby’s pre-me days.
But I digress. I love Christmas music. I love my Bing Crosby, my Amy Grant, my Harry Connick Jr. But we don’t really have much of a CD collection anymore. Now the we have discovered the marvels of these new-fangled MP3 players, our CDs reside in a few dusty boxes in the basement. And every year at Christmas time I dig through them finding the ones the fit the season.
Last year brilliance struck. Again, my brilliance might be over estimated as you may have been doing this for years, but now I pack the Christmas CDs with the Christmas decorations. So when I start decorating the tree, BAM, Bing is there to serenade me. Seriously love that man. If I wasn’t married and he wasn’t, you know, dead…who knows what might happen.

Great idea! I have a bunch of the old Christmas stand-bys on my playlist, but have added a few new ones this year that I’m loving: BarlowGirl’s “Hallelujah” and Casting Crown’s version of “I Heard the Bells” are beautiful. I highly recommend them.

That’s exactly what we do! Same with the Christmas DVDs. That way they don’t crowd up our regular dvds!

girl, count your blessings. you might not *heart* jimmy buffet, but my family’s favorite christmas album growing up was the CHIPMUNKS album (yeah back when they were popular the first time). I can’t believe it didn’t drive my parents to an early death of the self-inflicted variety.

You are hilarious!!! I just keep mine by the CD player with all the others, year around. That way I don’t have to even wait for the Christmas decorations to come out, I can begin the day after Halloween! I just bought Yo-Yo Ma Christmas by the way, Diana Krall, James Taylor and lots of other guest on it, I’m really enjoying it!

I pack up all the Christmas stuffed animals (the singing ones especially), along with all the Christmas books, VHS (yep, still have some oldies), CDs and DVDs with our Christmas stuff. I try to put all the media together so I can break it out as we start to decorate–AFTER Thanksgiving!
