How many times can I talk about my love for Veggie Tales? Apparently a lot. To me it never gets old. Although to you it might. But they provide my family wonderful, hilarious entertainment. And best of all, they are always pointing my kids back to God.
I was thinking today about how a lot of “kids” movies today throw in a lot of humor that adults will think is funny so that you aren’t bored out of your mind during a cartoon. What I love about Veggie Tales is that they do that too, but it isn’t adult humor I have to worry about my kids understanding. Have you noticed that in other movies? I cringe when I hear some of the jokes they throw out there!
Well, Veggie Tales has a new Easter DVD you might have heard me talking about over on Twitter a few weeks ago (here is a recap of the awesome Veggie Tales Twitter party I co-hosted). And the “grown up” humor is perfect for this house because it is a play on American Idol. I LOVE THAT!! It even has a new character voiced by former American Idol contestant Melinda Doolittle.
‘Twas the Night Before Easter might be my favorite Veggie Tales movie yet because its message is one I am super passionate about. The basic gist is that Jesus came to Earth to serve and our response should be one of serving others. This is a topic we have been talking a ton about in our house lately so its message is very timely (coincidentally it is also a topic I will be blogging about regularly as a contributor over at the new Pennies and Blessings- launch date 4/1/11).
But the best, best, BEST part is that this is the beginning of the partnership between Veggie Tales and World Vision. Sponsoring a child is SUCH a great way to give back and Bob and Larry encourage families to sponsor children just like they do. Also making a short appearance in their video clip about sponsorship is yours truly. Although my dream of being a vegetable in the Veggie Tales has not yet been realized, I do get to talk for a second about why I think sponsorship is such an amazing investment.

I have a copy of the newest DVD to give away to one of my readers! I want to get the video in your hands before Easter in case you want to put it in your kid’s Easter basket or watch it before Easter to talk about the meaning of the holiday. I think you will fall in love with the movie.

Thanks for the giveaway. I’ve been thinking about trying to incorporate some Veggie Tales into the rhythm of our family. Can I still enter the contest even if I haven’t seen any Veggie Tales?!
Don’t throw a tomato at me (can we still be friends?).
