Tis The Season- Hickory Farms

November 30, 2009

gift I am just going to admit up front that I am a sucker for summer sausage. Find me a party with a sausage, cheese plate and I will park myself there making summer sausage lunchables for the evening. I can’t really say what it is, but seriously once I start, I can’t stop eating the stuff.

Already this holiday season I have had several events where I have to bring something to share. Normally this would be an excuse to try out some new fun appetizer or dessert recipe. But this season I got a newborn and I am lucky if I can shower and put on makeup to get out the door. So easy is the name of the game this holiday. Nothing is easier than a box of summer sausage, cheese and crackers. They are always a hit.

Hickory Farms is the name that comes to mind when I think of summer sausage. And the taste does not disappoint. Neither did the amount of food. It has gotten us through two parties and there is still cheese left. Hickory Farms offers a ton of gift baskets at different price points. Outside of sausage and cheese baskets, they offer fruit, nut, and sweets (fudge assortment please!!). Everything is shipped in environmentally safe boxes. In my opinion, some of these boxes are a little too pricey, but there are a lot of boxes that seems reasonable and I was impressed with the quality of the food.

For a limited time this holiday season, for each Party Planner Gift Box sold, Hickory Farms will donate $5 to Share Our Strength, a leading national non-profit organization working to end childhood hunger in America.  Additionally, for 40 of these gift items, Hickory Farms provides free military shipping, allowing our troops across the globe to share in holiday traditions. Even more incentive. I think this would be a really great gift for those people on your list who are difficult to buy for. Who doesn’t like food? (Not to people who don’t know what to get me. I likey the food).

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Hickory Farms and received a Hickory Farms gift basket to facilitate my review. All opinions in the review are mine. I wouldn’t lie about food :)

Hickory Farms always reminds me of my grandfather. We always sent him a HF gift box and a bottle of Crown Royal for Christmas!
