I have been praying about sponsoring a child(ren) for a little while now. Just waiting for my husband to get back from deployment so we can work out the details.
Will definitely keep you in my prayers.

I’m sure you already know this – but I don’t think that thinking God knew 10 years ago that sponsoring a child would lead to this is crazy talk at all!!
We’ll be praying for you the whole way.

Hi Jill,
We have been planning to do this for the past few weeks. I want Sam to pick the child, when he gets home later today and we’ll send you the name in hopes you get to meet them. Which link do I need to use for the Lisa Leonard necklace? Thanks! Alison

We just signed up!!
They will send us the info on our child in the next week. I’ll send you the name as soon as I have it. I would like to order the necklace for myself (as a reminder of this child). I did not see it on Lisa’s webpage. Is it available to order?

Hi Jill – I found your blog via Lisa Leonard. I just want to say how excited I am for you that you will be travelling to meet your sponsored child. I met mine last August 2009 in Tanzania, East Africa – as part of a larger project my husband and I started in order to spread the love and begin a powerful legacy. I have been sponsoring Miriamu (now 8 years old) since March 2008. I was 27 at the time and had wanted to sponsor a child for many years but feared that I might not be able to maintain the financial commitment. I stopped worrying about that and just finally did it! My husband and I met the most beautiful salt-of-the-earth people in TZ including Miriamu, her family, her fellow schoolmates and community members. As part of our Project Tanzania initiative which contributes to World Vision’s Survive Five Program in TZ, I got to develop a close relationship with the folks at World Vision Canada. There is no limit to the joy you can experience by sponsoring a child and the community you develop. You can find out more about our story and initiative here: http://www.prairiegirlbyday.wordpress.com/2009/09/14/asante-sana/
Wishing you a full heart and safe travels.

Woowho! I am anxious to follow your World Vision trip too! We already sponsor two kiddos from Africa but one will be outgrown of the program come Sept. I’m so sad and proud and happy for them! Hehe… We will have to pick out a new little kiddo… or two… in their place.
Take care!

Wow, that Lisa Leonard is awesome! And you guys are too. Praying for your trip. I sponsored a WV child years ago and she actually outgrew the program by getting married!! My heart is so moved by the work that World Vision and Compassion do all over the world. I would love to sponsor a child again, but can’t at this time.

Ok, coming back to say that our family is now officially sponsoring a child in the DR – thanks to your post & Amanda’s … for the great reminder! Our little boy is Genaro & he will be turning 10 on Sunday! Kind of a little early b-day present (even though he likely won’t know about it in time).

How very exciting about your trip! And what awesome necklaces! I hope you are able to meet your sponsored child. We sponsored a World Vision girl in Africa a couple years ago. She’s the same age as our daughter. Will be praying for you and the team!

I am so excited for you! What an amazing opportunity to go on this trip- what a life change it may be!
My husband and I have sponsored two children in Bangladesh for 5 years. We had the chance of visiting the children’s home they live at back in 2008. it was amazing. We just found out that our sponsor daughter has a little sister who has come to the children’s home so we are going to sponsor her as well! Its a great chance to teach our little ones about the world outside of our little town. Izzy has a picture of her sponser sisters next to her bed.
I hope you love your trip and just let God work through and in you.
We love what world vision does too!
