I told you a few weeks back how I was really enjoying doing Mommy Parties. Last weekend I got to have a little party for Webkinz Jr. thanks to Mom Select. It was so special because although Lily helped me “run” the party, it was really a party for Hannah and her little friends. As the middle child rarely does ANYTHING get to be just about Hannah.
We have been Webkinz fans for a long time. I think Lily has 3 or 4 now and although she doesn’t go onto their site as much as she used to, she has spent many hours playing and learning on their site. Truth be told, there have been a few times when I have even gone on so that I could “help her win points.” It has nothing to do with wanting to play the games myself. That would just be silly.
I hadn’t had any experience with Webkinz Jr. and, actually, Hannah really hasn’t done much with the computer at all. Lily used the computer at Hannah’s age pretty regularly, but it appears mommy has gotten quite stingy with her computer. I am learning to share.
Webkinz Jr. works very similar to Webkinz. Your child picks out an adorable stuffed animal which comes with a unique code which helps them access the online Webkinz Jr. world. But the online world is tailored to 3-6 year olds so it is much simpler than the Webkinz site. So there are lots of fun educational games which your child can complete to earn coins which they can use to buy fun things for their pet. Well fun virtual things. And although I do supervise Hannah when she is on in case she needs help, I don’t for a second worry about her online safety.
The party itself was so much fun. I was provided with Webkinz Jr. for ten guests as well as coloring books, stickers, and music CDs perfect for the preschool set. We played fun little games, ate delicious food and each child was able to pick out the Webkinz they wanted. Believe it or not that process went down with no drama. That is because every Webkinz is absolutely adorable so who could complain? They were able to chose from a dog, kitty, elephant, mouse and giraffe.
Hannah ended up with a kitty she named Sarah Grace (after he current ballet teacher). The great part about Webkinz is they have an actual stuffed animal to love on when they aren’t in their virtual world. But the cool thing is when they are online, the pet they interact with looks exactly like their stuffed animal thanks to the code. Of course, she wants to play Webkinz all.day.long so we have had to set some boundaries, but I do enjoy that she is safe, having fun and learning all at the same time. Makes me a little less annoyed that I am sharing my computer.

I LOVE this idea!!! I have 4 children–girl, boy, girl, boy–and my #3 child is a true “middle child”. I would love to do this for her. She could really use something she could call her own. Do I sound like a guilty parent?? So be it.

I don’t use twitter or have a blog or any of the other options to get a code….but I did go check out the website and have a question for you: how much does it cost? I looked all over the website and can’t find anywhere what the cost to register is? Do I have to go to a store and purchase it along with the pet?
