Things I Love Thursday- Spanx

August 5, 2009

tilt  So I might be big and pregnant, but that doesn’t mean I like to feel BIG and pregnant. Even though I rationally know with pregnancy comes some extra girth, I still want to feel pretty in clothes and not like a beached whale. When I was heading to BlogHer I was so excited to get dressed up for cocktail parties, but felt like I wanted just a little bit of support and a little bit of suck in power without cutting off circulation or suffocating the baby.

When I twittered about my desires, I had several people recommend maternity Spanx. I know Spanx. They are every woman’s secret weapon when wearing anything that requires an inch or two off the tummy, hips and thighs. But I have worn them and they SUCK YOU IN so I didn’t understand how I was going to survive wearing anything that restrictive while pregnant. But people kept recommending and suddenly Spanx themselves tweeted me and asked me if I would like to try some for BlogHer. Yes please!!

These things are brilliant. The “Power Mamas” have a soft lycra panel that covers your belly so there is absolutely no tightness there. Just support for your belly and your back which hello, are begging for support. Then the Spanx kick in around the bum and thighs which hello, need some suck in power. I was so comfortable all night that I didn’t want to take them off. Seriously, I never thought I would say that about underarmor.

If you are not pregnant, I can vouch for the fabulousness that is Spanxall around. They slim you, take away panty lines (a BIG no no) and allow you to feel sexy even with a post baby body. They make underwear, hoisery, bras, tanks, body shapers and even some clothing. I don’t think you will be disappointed in anything you buy. And once you wear one under something and see the change in your shape you won’t want to go without out it.

Obviously, Spanx provided me with some of their products, but did not ask for a review in return. I had such a great experience with their products and their customer service that I wanted to share them with you.

What is it you love this week? Blog about it and link up down below. Then pop around and see what else people love in the blogosphere. If you need some further guidance, head over here.

OK, I have to ask you honestly: how do real Spanx compare to fake Spanx from Target or the drugstore? Because I cannot stand the seam on the fake Spanx that digs into my stomach. I need the sucking in…but I am afraid to drop $30 on a pair of pantyhose if I am going to hate them.

I have this theory that Spanx are going to be the new corset. Every woman is going to wear them eventually.

I bought the right size for my height and pregnancy weight and couldn’t get maternity Spanx past my mid-thigh. (

Too bad you can’t try them on before buying. $32 out the window.

I saved them to use post pregnancy, but frankly, they are the same as a girdle to me, I don’t find them comfy at all.

I’ve never tried the maternity spanx, but I love the regular ones! They really just smooth you out and you can tell a woman invited them. No more muffin top! :)

If the folks at Spanxs saw what I’ve done to their product by wearing the same pair of maternity spanx, they would be so appalled. As you can tell, I looooooove them.

I have never tried spanx. I’m big and pregnant too, but it’s not like I ever go anywhere that I would need them, lol! Great review and how nice of Spanx to give you some!

Hey, from one gum chewer to another-thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Try the new Orbit MIST is the one I especially like in the Peppermint Spray flavor. I think you will like it. I also like Trident Xtra which my dentist says will help your teeth if you chew it after you eat. I’m just saying.

Now then, I also love Spanx. I love gum and I love Spanx.

Thanks for hosting this carnival. Stop by and play 5 Things Friday if you have a sec. Blessings.
