So my long time readers might recall that last year a big preggo me lumbered off to Blog Her. And before I went I lamented on Twitter that someone should really make Spanx for preggo people so I could look less like a beached whale. Under the circumstances, any slimming effect whatsoever was nothing short of a miracle.
So now, nine months post baby, I should be a lean, mean bikini machine right? Sorry, I just fell over from laughing. Three kids has possibly rendered my permanently squishy. Jillian Michaels is determined to prove otherwise, but she is in a losing battle from the inside of an under used DVD case. So as I blog from my vacation in the land of lakes, a flattering swimsuit was a necessity. I almost attempted to wade into the lake in some sort of full body wet suit, but I stick out a bit so I decided I had to buy a swimsuit. Gulp.
I turned to my trusty friends at Spanx. They sent me a lovely swimsuit that leaned way more toward “hot mama” than “used to be hot mama way before she popped out three kids and got a pouch that will not die and a bosom that is just plain sad”. You ladies know what I am talking about. So, tell me, don’t you think this suit screams “SASSY MAMA”?
And we can all just pretend that is EXACTLY how I look in it despite the fact that some recent photos of me frolicking on the beach that indicate otherwise. Cause let’s be honest. A good Spanx suit can only do so much. We aren’t doing liposuction here. That being said, I love my suit. I feel “held in” and if I stand up straight, suck in a tad and the lighting is right, I might even look like someone resembling a skinny person. And that pesky back fat? Eliminated. That is worth more than diamonds ladies.
Can I just tell you how ridiculously hard it was to pick out a suit from their collection? I loved so many of them. They have a suit that looks like a tankini, but it really is a one piece that totally holds you in. I love how this suit can be worn two different ways. And they have two different styles of bottoms to go with their tankinis that are high rise and cover up a multitude of sins. And BEST YET? It appears that their whole site is on sale!! Now I realize these aren’t bargain suits, but honestly in my years of bargain shopping (and I am somewhat of a pro), I have found it does not pay to buy cheap suits. This is one area where you should invest in something that flatters you an makes you feel good. I have bought many a cheap suit and halfway through the summer the elastic is shot, the bum is saggy and the color is nowhere near the original shade. Then you just end up needing to buy another suit the next year anyway.
Don’t you owe yourself some sassy swimwear mamas? I’ll meet you at the beach and we can swagger along together. And lucky for you Spanx wants to provide TWO lucky winners with a swimsuit of their choice. To enter, head over to the Spanx website and leave a comment letting me know which suit you would choose. This entery is MANDATORY. For 4 additional chances (leave a SEPARATE comment for each entry):

I like the Convertible Tankini Top…I guess that’s just 1 piece. I like how it can be worn 2 different ways and that the straps are accent colours.

My choice of one-piece would be the triangle top one piece, but my overall favorite would be the pairing of a Tankini Top and High-Rise Bottom. Thanks for the chance to win!

I love the one piece that looks like a tankini. Brilliant.
I subscribe to your email! I also love the red suit you have pictured above.
Listen, anything that can diminish back fat is worth it’s weight in gold. I’m loving the triangle top one piece!

I absolutely LOVE the Deep-V one piece. I’m 8 months post baby and my pre-baby suits don’t fit right anymore…(especially now that I’m post-baby #2). Would love the chance to try one of Spanx’s suits!

I recently told a friend, “I wish Spanx made swimsuits.” Who knew? Obviously not me. It’s hard to choose which one I like best. I like the one shoulder and tankini one-pieces but the two pieces are cute, too! I’m glad a friend’s tweet sent me to this post!
I just added your blog to my Google reader.

Ohhh! This would be great… I had a baby 4 weeks ago and am trying to figure out how to enjoy the summer in something other than capris and maternity tanks. I love the tankini tops with the different options for bottoms. Thanks for letting us know about the options…even if I don’t win
I am a faithful reader of thediaperdiaries via google reader! Thanks for all your info and sense of humor…love it!
Love the deep V one piece!
Oh, what a great giveaway – now, to win! I would get the convertible tankini top – or the tankini one piece … both look like they would hide the extra “love” on me from pregnacy/kids!
I like the bandeau one piece…and I love Spanx in general!
I love the one piece tankini! Adorable!
I would probably do the high-rise bottom with the tankini top. Cute!
