Things I Love Thursday- Panasonic 360 Degree Quick Iron

November 5, 2009

tilt You know those products that come out and when they do you realize we were all idiots for not coming up with this idea sooner? The Panasonic 360 Iron is one of those things.

Just to keep it real, I don’t really iron. The hubby’s clothes are what needs most of the ironing around here so he usually does it. I actually am pretty sure he thinks I don’t know how to iron and I don’t really feel the need to correct him. Little does he know ironing was one of my main chores growing up so I am actually quite good at it. I believe strongly that every marriage needs a little bit of mystery :) And apparently I am in good company because a recent survey said that 1/3 of all ironers are men.

The buzz on this iron is that it allows you to iron 25% faster. The reason? It is pointed on both ends allowing it to be multi-directional. This is where I just go hello? Why are we just thinking of this. OF COURSE and iron should be pointed at both ends so it is multi-directional. Yet is still has a flat base to stand on which presumably is the only reason irons were shaped like triangles to begin with. Whoever the person that invented this is should be assigned to solving that world peace problem cause they are clearly a genius.

The other thing about a triangle shaped iron that makes it inferior is that it often times causes wrinkles when moving sideways. I hate this because then you are stuck with a big crease that is so difficult to get out and it wasn’t even there when you started ironing. The elliptical shaped iron eliminates this problem and glides easier over clothes. It is so much easier to use and get to those difficult ironing spots like collars and pleats.

Now my old iron has some good features, but they are also present in this one. Like automatic shut off which comes in handy when you are halfway across town and begin to panic that you didn’t turn the iron off. It also has various temperature control settings and the ability to use your iron wet (to steam) or dry. It also has a feature that I honestly have no idea if my current iron has: self cleaning. I am pretty sure, like my oven, this feature will get used once every 5 years, but it is good to know it is there, cause I am all about having one less thing to clean.

The Panasonic 360 Degree Quick Iron retails for around $50 which isn’t too shabby. It is so delightful it almost makes me want to take over the ironing…..almost….

What is it you love this week? Ironing perhaps. Whatever it is, write about it and link up with Mr. Linky below. If you haven’t participated in Things I Love Thursday before, you can find some guidelines over here. Make sure to link to your ACTUAL post and not just your blog, link back to  this carnival in your post and most importantly visit other participants and give them some bloggy love.

You are so funny – I totally relate! I keep a bottle of ‘Downey Dewrinkle’ spray on hand because I don’t like to iron either! :)

Wow!!! I may just be in need of a new iron when we get back to the states. I do the most of our ironing, but I can’t say that I really love it. My mother in law, on the other hand could iron all day long. She says it’s theraputic for her. I know…weird, huh?

It’s been soooo long since i’ve ironed! I have been using a natural alternative to Downy (melaleuca’s Revive) and save a lot of time using it. Plus it smells good. I do have to say though, there was always something peaceful about ironing – and if I had more room, I’d probably iron just for the calming effect. lol

That is a great idea! I hate ironing too…but I don’t do it much since we dry clean my husbands work stuff…and buy non iron shirts that I wash…but when I do have to iron I certainly am not the best at it! But this looks fun! :)

Well I haven’t been shopping with ANY kids yet, but I like it because it helps to curb impulse buys. I can never get out of Target for under $100!

I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to get one of these. Or at least put it on my Christmas Wish list! I saw there was also a $40 version…

One of my criteria in who I would marry was finding a man who did the ironing. Luckily it isn’t that hard since pretty much every man who has been in military service knows how to iron well. So kudos to the military! lol

But seriously, that iron ROCKS! I never knew such a thing existed so thanks for sharing with the rest of the class!

My husband is the sole iron man around these parts too! I love it that way;)
Maybe this would be a perfect Christmas gift…Probably a bit comparable to giving mom a new vacuum??
