Things I Love Thursday- Noodles & Company

TILT My hubby and I agree on all the important things. Even a lot of the little things. But one area where our tastes differ (aside from his insistence that Hall and Oates makes good music) is literally our tastes. I love Mexican and Italian food and a big ole steak. He likes any type of Asian food and all things seafood. In the name of love, he will occasionally suffer through a meal of chips and guacamole and I will eat some tempura trying not to vomit as he scarfs down raw fish. “Look, you can see the tentacle” could be the least appetizing phrase every spoken.

Noodles & Company is where we find our common ground. It might be overstating it a tad to say that the restaurant has saved our marriage, but I like how dramatic that sounds so I am leaving it in there. What it offers is “fast-casual” food at a good price point and a little something for everyone. And unlike typical fast food fare, this food is made right there with fresh seasonal vegetables. Thankfully for my hubby and I, there are some Asian inspired dishes AND some Italian and American inspired dishes. Although last time I went there I got the Asian Chicken Salad so go figure. I think in marriage you should always keep them guessing.

Now that we have made changes to the way we are eating as a family, one of our biggest challenges is finding someplace to eat out when we travel or need something on the go. I just can’t stomach many places anymore. Noodles and Company is some place I feel comfortable taking my kids. And although they don’t have a “children’s menu” there are a ton of things for kids to like. And they have half orders to help a family out.

Through the end of June, Noodles & Company is celebrating asparagus. It is only in season for a short time so it deserves a celebration right? They have created Asparagus Lemon Linguine which has fresh asparagus, snap peas, mushrooms, basil and more all over a bed of whole wheat pasta. Yeah, it tastes as good as it sounds. You can also add asparagus to any dish for $1.25 extra. We haven’t quite succeeded in getting the kids to try asparagus. Granted our attempts were by telling them they should really try it because it makes their pee smell funny. I know. It is a shame we don’t teach parenting classes.

Oh and my final reason for love, love, loving Noodles & Company? It was started by 2 college roommates from my little liberal arts college. I think my alma mater is the greatest school on Earth and now you should too. It is clearly cranking out geniuses at an alarming rate. I mean it is only a matter of time before the world discovers how amazing this little blog is. You all are just WAY ahead of the curve. I will remember you all when I become famous. Especially my regular TILT ladies.

How’s that for a segue? You see what I mean about the genius thing right? Anywho, what are you loving this week? Slap together a post and link on up. Please link back here in your post so that people can find us. And don’t forget to travel around the linky list and check out what the other bloggers are loving. All other Things I Love Thursday guidelines can be found here. As always, if you tweet, use the #TILT hashtag and I will do my best to give you some retweet love. I am trying really hard to limit my online time during the day, but I can’t quit you Twitter!!!

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Noodles & Company and received five Noodles & Company bowl cards to facilitate my review. Mom Central also sent me a thank-you gift certificate.”

Oh my stomach is GROWLING now! That Asparagus Lemon Linguine dish sounds so YUMMIE! We tried grilled asparagus recently and I did not care for it much. I think the way the Noodles place makes it sounds so much better. Wish there was one around here!

    Take care!

I don’t like Hall and Oates – I like the REMIXED songs of Hall and Oates that the Bird and the Bee covered. Jill can’t go for that, but music loving blog readers, check this out : http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/I+Can+t+Go+For+That/2IjmVS

  6. I’ve never been to Noodles & Co., but we have one nearby. I need to try it!

Mark and I have differing tastes, too. He loves BBQ and likes fish. I think BBQ is better smelled than eaten, and I think fish is GROSS. I like Chinese, but he won’t touch it. Thankfully, we can both agree on lots of Mexican and Italian!

  7. Don’t be hatin’ – but I got Maybelle to eat asparagus. Grilled, but only the tips.
Your alumni association must have a difficult time not scheduling events that conflict with the MENSA meetings, or no one would make it. Kidding…

  13. Noodles and Company was a favorite of my husband and I before we moved away from Baltimore. We have mentioned that we miss it dearly repeatedly. I know we enjoyed most of what we ordered, but their mac and cheese was a definite favorite. Thanks for letting me live through you!
