Things I Love Thursday- Haagen-Dazs

April 8, 2009

tilt If there was a Things I Love with a passionate, fervent love carnival, this would be the week for it. First off, let me just say when someone asks you if you want to review Haagen-Dazs ice cream for your blog and you are in your first trimester of pregnancy the only appropriate answer is hell ya. Ya I said hell. Cause it is ice cream and I am pregnant. Heck is not sufficient in this case.

Haagan-Dazs has released a new ice cream line they are calling “ice cream unplugged.” The Haagan-Dazs Five series each contain all natural ingredients. Five in fact. Milk, sugar, eggs, cream and whatever flavor the ice cream is. And listen to these flavors: milk chocolate, vanilla bean, passion fruit, mint, ginger, coffee and brown sugar. At this point I should really hand this blog over to my hubby as he has developed quite the passion for the brown sugar.

He took his first bite and said, “This is amazing. It is so good, but you almost can’t eat more than a few bites.” Half a pint later I had to pry the stuff from his hands. It is difficult to explain the wonderousness that is this ice cream, but the closest thing I can compare it to is my personal favorite desert of all time creme brulee. Holy cow it is good (just to be clear I am not suggesting it, in fact, came from a holy cow, but it is that good).

I also tried the mint, ginger and passion fruit flavors. The passion fruit is good, but really sweet so again, you can’t eat a ton. The ginger would be an excellent ending to an Asian meal or with some fruit or maybe like an apple pie (dang, now I want pie). The mint tastes like a Girl Scout Thin Mint. I ain’t lying. In fact, if you could dip Thin Mint cookies into the ice cream. Oh my goodness, somebody get me some Thin Mints.

This post has been torture to write. Now I want like 19 different foods and I have none of them in the house. At least I have my ice cream to comfort me. And it has 1/3 less fat than other ice creams so I don’t have to feel guilty about polishing off a pint of two. Milk, eggs, cream and sugar are all vital to a baby’s development right?

What is it you love this week. I would love for you to participate in our weekly carnival. You can find out how over here. Remember to visit other participants too so we can all get a little bump in traffic. Link up!!

It’s my first time joining in, and I’m excited to read what everyone’s got!

I will have to check out this new ice cream, as we recently become more thoughtful about natural ingredients. I love their stuff anyway so I’m sure it’ll be a big hit!

Ice cream! Yum. Can I eat some for breakfast? Oh wait, I’m already at work. Darn.

I’ll have to try that brown sugar when I see it hit the stores. My favorite ice cream flavor is made at a local dairy and it’s cinnamon. Oh so good!

Your descriptions make me want to be pregnant again just to justify eating a pint of this ice cream. And I don’t want to be pregnant again (yet!) Very persuasive… and tempting…

Sounds very delish! I’ll have to look into it. Especially the mint. Mint Chocolate Chip is my all time favorite ice cream flavor.
