Things I Love Thursday- Explorer’s Bounty Puffed Fruit (and a GIVEAWAY!!)

April 22, 2009

tilt I love it when I get a product to review that I truly, truly love. I am always honest with my reviews, don’t worry, but some I definitely love more than others. And these were high on my list of favorite things to review. And let me be honest, I didn’t have high expectations. I mean, I wanted to review them cause I am always looking for healthy snacks, but puffed fruit doesn’t exactly make me want to jump up and down.

Then again, I hadn’t tried Explorer’s Bounty. Actually, truth be told, I barely got to try the Puffed Fruit because, Lily, the world’s pickiest eater downed 3 of the 6 bags in record time. She seriously couldn’t get enough. When I say puffed fruit, think less cheese puff and more potato chips. These things are crunchy. So they satisfy your need for crunch and sweet all at the same time.

Now for all the stuff that would make Al Gore happy. Explorer’s Bounty products are 100% organic. The fruit is all grown with sustainable farming practice. They adhere to fair trade practices. Now for the stuff that makes mom’s everywhere happy. Their fruit snacks are made with 100% fruit with no added sweeteners. Each pack contains 100 calories, but is packed with way more nutritional value then traditional 100 calorie snack packs. And also unlike traditional 100 calorie packs, these things are packed full. No measly portions here.

Now listen to these flavors: cinnamon-infused banana, cinnamon-infused pineapple, plantain, pineapple, banana and pineapple-banana. Every single one of them absolutely delicious. And desired by a very picky 5 year old. Here’s the only bummer. They are a little hard to find. You can of course order them from the Explorer’s Bounty website. And they can be found at Whole Foods stores is you have those where you live. But they are on the pricey side as most organic, healthy things seem to be. Still the fact that my kids ate something healthy is a a huge selling point. If you saw the healthy eating battles, you would understand.

Do you want to try some for free? Cause the good people at Explorer’s Bounty have a variety pack for a lucky reader. All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment. So simple. Want a second entry? Participate in my weekly carnival, Things I Love Thursday. The guidelines can be found here. The last 2 winners of a Thursday contest have won because of their extra entry. To get it you must link to your post in Mr. Linky AND leave an extra comment telling me you did so. Got it? Two comments. I will draw a winner using comments so that is the only way to get two entries. Best of luck!!

This probably doesn’t increase my chances of winning, does it? I would love these for myself :) I really enjoy snacks with fruit flavors…
I buy chewy fruit snacks… It’s my pregnancy craving. Refined, isn’t it?

I would love to try these. My little ones love fruity snacks, but they’re usually loaded with sugar and other not-so-healthy stuff, so I try not to let them eat too much. This sounds like something they would love! Me too!
