Things I Love Thursday- Clorox Green Works

October 29, 2008

I have mentioned many a time on this blog our mini, little, tiny baby steps we take towards green living. But it is all the easy stuff. Recycling, reusable shopping bags (super cute ones!!), following other family members around the house turning off lights (ahem, hubby, ahem). But in the spirit of honesty I should tell you the thought of cloth diapers freaks me out (it’s the poopy), I am highly addicted to reusable cleaning wipes, and I love a good 20 minute hot shower (I know, but it is at the gym and there are no kids peaking in every few minutes)

So when I heard that Clorox had a new site, 30 Days To Natural, that emails daily tips on how to live green, I thought I should sign up. Cause clearly I need some help. And these aren’t like, sell your car and walk everywhere kind of tips. Some of them are really basic, like only run the dishwasher when full (hello? I am the master of all things dishwasher). But some are things I don’t always think about, like re-purposing things that can’t be recycled instead of throwing them out. And I get a little excited when I get a tip that I am already doing cause I feel all Al Gore like. Except cuter and way less boring.

And one thing a day seems more manageable than an entire life changing overhaul. And just think, if we all did just one thing a day….well we could hold hands on top of a hill and sing “I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing.” Oh wait, that was Coke. Well, I think Clorox can do that too.

So one easy thing you can do to save the Earth with little effort is switching to green cleaning products. You can make your own, but I find that the amount of elbow grease I have to use to clean is sometimes not worth it. Could be that I need to clean my bathroom more than once a moon cycle, but I prefer to think it is the cleaners. You could buy them, but they are like 8 times as expensive as the polluting kind.

Enter, Clorox Green Works. Each product contains over 99% natural ingredients that are biodegradable. Green Works cleaners are not tested on animals and use recyclable packaging. And they clean like regular Clorox stuff. Without the guilt. Save the guilt for things like eating half of your children’s Halloween candy after they go to sleep. In case you are one of those people….

What do you love (besides mini Twix bars)? Link up and let us know!!

I have heard a lot of good things about the Clorox Green Works products, but I have never purchased them before. I think that next week during my shopping trip I will pick up a bottle and have at my bathroom and kitchen.

I’ve gotten a few Colrox Green Works products and have really liked them all. I”m trying to phase all of my stuff over to them when I need to buy new clean products. I love that they’re not super expensive like some other “green” cleaners.

I try to use the homemade cleaners whenever possible. I actually kind of like applying that extra bit of elbow-grease; it’s a good outlet for stress! But this sounds like a good alternative, and should I ever become stress-free, I’ll be sure to give it a try!

I am on the Clorox Advisory Council (no, seriously. I am) and still don’t trust that it will work. I have been tempted, and maybe some day I will break down and buy it… but that day is a long time from now.
