Great points. I’d add having the baby monitor on. You can’t get it on with one ear trying to hear if the baby is squawking in her crib!

Wow, what a coincidence (or not, depending on how you view such things). My January project is to restore our bedroom to it’s previous boudoir state. A couple years ago, we painted the bedroom, got new furniture and made a room for us, a haven that was uncluttered and nice to be in. Well…over the past several months the state of affairs in the boudoir have significantly declined, so I decided to start the year off right and get it back in shape!

I know I’m able to um, concentrate better, when I’m not distracted by clutter on the bedside table and clothes on the floor! ;)

If you can’t get the TV out of the room, how about establishing a no TV time? Agree that after a certain time the TV will be turned off and not come back on until the sun comes up. Our problem right now is the baby, who still refuses to spend the entire night in her own bed, although we are working on it and most nights she starts in her own bed giving us a few hours of alone time. Gotta start somewhere!

Great ideas! A couple I never thought of…like pics of the kids. I should replace them with pics of me and hubby together. :) Also, I agree about the baby monitor. Ohhh that is a killer and I have one in my room, even though the baby is two steps across the hall. If she really needs me, she’ll let me know!
Great challenge! I look forward to sprucing it up this week!

Crap. Gotta declutter our room. No pics of kids. Or Grandma. Or any other figures that might make for a scary mid-session glance over. So we’re good there.

Okay, okay. So this means I probably need to move the 2-month old out of the bedroom, too? I’m having a hard time letting go – even though she’d only be moving a few feet down the hall…Guess I need to suck it up, though, huh? :) K – so my challenge is to de-clutter my bedroom by transferring the babe to her own room. Luckily, I have a week to work up to it…

this might be TMI… but what’s a post on sex without TMI? I went to world market and got some incense. it smells nice and gives a sense of the faraway (we have really good vacation sex, trying to play that up at home you know)… unlike candles which we burn in our kitchen to get rid of the grease smell (not so much sexy). I plan to light out nice-smelling incense this week.

ugh, I guess that means I need to clean our room first, and put away the laundry.

Your post is a terrific reminder to make the master bedroom a place for comfort and coming together as a couple.

Okay…I’m in a dilemma. My husband and I are in the process of building a house in another state. (Yea!) BUT…our bedroom is full of packing boxes and it is chaos! We have a small apt. in Ohio, the state we are moving to for when we have to be up there until the house is done. It is like a bachelor’s pad to say the least. This is just the way it is until we actually move. Maybe I should just have sex with blinders on???? ha!

Okay, I don’t have any pics of the kids in our bedroom or any toys. However, I do have to get our seventeen month old daughter out of the room…sigh…easier said than done.

**For those of you ladies who deal with the-baby-in-the-room dilemma, try the living room :) or a spare bedroom, or the minivan–if you have a garage of course, privacy is paramount– (haven’t done that one YET…hmmm…might be a fun way to spice it up though!) The point is to work with what you have and WORK IT! :) **

Clutter is minimal and usually consists of laundry…which drives my husband insane…so I try to keep it picked up.

For mood lighting, there is no cheaper way to go than Dollar Store tea lights!

There is no CD player in our bedroom, so we are at the mercy of what is on the radio….need to put “stereo for bedroom” at the top of our “to-be-bought” list!

However, I am working on creating a more romantic decorating atmosphere conducive to lovemaking in our bedroom. It is so hard when you have such a limited budget and extravagant dreams! Guess I am going to have to get creative :)

The TV got kicked out of our home almost a year ago. We decided that it was taking over our family time and our couple time. Out it went and we don’t miss it a bit!

I got my extra credit done last night *grin*

Thanks for such a great challenge!

  40. Great tips! Unfortunately, when we clean the house, our room always gets the “throw backs”. Piles of papers, etc gets thrown back to our room. It drives me nuts. Moving “de-clutter bedroom” to the top of my to-do list.

So far I’m ok…have some things to work on in the bedroom but a few months ago I redecorated, took out all photos of anyone but hubby and I, put out some new photos of us, and no tv. BUT my room is a mess! I need some organizational tips/help for this! I simply am not good at always putting away clean clothes, keeping things picked up, etc….HELP! So…I’ll work on cleaning/decluttering and look into good lighting (I think that is a FABULOUS idea!)
