Oh yeah, its back. Cause I don’t know about you, but don’t you just need a reminder, a refresher, a support group of women who are jonesing for some marital hokey pokey? I would love to tell you I have come up with a whole bunch of new challenges to put a spark back into your marriage, but I am not that good. So I am starting at the beginning and we are doing them again. I will tweek them a bit, and if you have any fun ideas for a challenge, I am more than happy to add them in. If your new, perfect, join on in. If you’ve done these the first time around, I am betting you could still stand a second go at it. And I thought I would be nice and start your New Year’s Resolution list for you. I’m such a giver.
Are you in? Your husband wants you to be…
There has been a ton of focus in the Christian community on the Proverbs 31 women. What is not to love? She cooks, she sews, she spends money wisely, and her children and husband love and obey her. I am not trying to mock the verses; it is a standard we Christian mommies should strive for. However there is another verse for Christian mommies we are quick to overlook.
So do not deprive each other of sexual relations. The only exception to this rule would be the agreement of both husband and wife to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time, so they can give themselves more completely to prayer. Afterward they should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt them because of their lack of self-control. (1 Cor. 7:5, NLT)
Yes ladies, I’m talking about sex. Or more accurately, the sad lack of it that is going on in many marriages. When I told a friend I was going to be blogging about sex she responded, “But you have a Christian blog.” This is where we Christians are seriously missing the boat. Did you see the scripture reference at the end of the quotation? God talks about sex in the Bible. And not just to tell us not to have it. He is telling married people to have it regularly. Now this commandment made not have made it in to the top 10, but it was important enough to make it into the big book. So why is it often overlooked?
I talk to a lot of mommies. A lot of women post-kids complain about losing interest in sex. Some regard it as a chore, some as a duty to just get over with, some as something done once a month during ovulation to try and procreate. At best, some regard it as something that sounds nice, but they’re just too dang tired to enjoy. Ladies, God gave us sex as a gift to enjoy with our husbands. Don’t believe me? How about a quick anatomy lesson? Women have something even men don’t when it comes to sex. An organ devoted entirely to sexual pleasure (if I lost you, it rhymes with Delores). So why aren’t we enjoying it more?
Let me pause for a moment and say…Mom stop reading my blog for just a minute. It will be safe to come back tomorrow. To my single friends-I know you think this premise is crazy. If you are staying pure, waiting for Mr. Right, you may find it insane that there are married women running around complaining about having to have sex. I could give you our excuses: the kids are making me tired, I don’t have the body I used to, Grey’s Anatomy is on, he doesn’t bring me flowers anymore… but the fact is, we married women often drop the ball (does this make you giggle, no, sorry).
So here’s the deal. Every Monday, I will be posting a challenge on my website to encourage us wives to step it up to improve the sex in our marriages. It will be tasteful (pretty much), it will be fun, it will be great for your marriage, it will be pleasing to God. What more can you ask for? Let me be clear, this is for the MARRIED ladies and their HUBBIES. The rest of you have to sit this one out 
For those ladies who are already rock-stars in this area -kudos to you (and your lucky hubbies)! I suspect however that the bulk of us need a little encouraging. So are you brave enough to jump in? If so, leave me a comment. I would love it if you would reference the challenge on your blog, twitter, Facebook, skywriting whatever works. I’m totally in! This is so timely, our pastor just did an awesome series called “LOVE U” and alot of it was about sex and how that is something God made to improve and enhance our relationships. He did some Q&A and somebody asked about oral sex and he explained that the Bible doesn’t say not to do it and how its okay. He paused and said “All the guys say ‘Amen’”, it was so funny!

Awesome challenge! While I absolutely love making love to my husband and think we have a much-better-than-average sex life, there is always room for improvement.
I was just talking to my husband about how I get so wrapped up in the kids and their problems that I tend to forget that he needs me just as much as they do, though in a different way. This will be great for helping me to keep him in top priority.

What a neat idea! Hubbie and I just had baby 4 about 5 months ago so “I’m tired”, “the baby isn’t sleeping yet”, and “maybe tomorrow” are frequently heard in my house. Although I am familiar with this verse, it kind of gets lost in the day to day shuffle of mommy-ing and taking care of necessities that I sometimes forget “it” is a necessity also. I will be looking forward to Mondays!

I think we (Christians) have let society determine what is okay to talk about outside the bed and what is not…what is taboo or not proper or right and wrong SHOULD not be decided by society…Sex is of God. sex was given by God….and we need to stop hiding from talking about it….There is a time and a place yes…but there is nothing wrong with it!

I would love to join your challange. I am a Mom of two boys 12 and 13. My 13 year old son is disabled, I babysit for a 2 1/2 year old little girl full time and I have just went back to college on line full time, I am also very devoted to volunteering through church. Sometimes it is easy to forget how to be intimate and not feel like it is a job. I look forward to the inspiration!

Wow, there are other Christians who think sex (gasp, isn’t that a dirty word!?) is important!
I’m a newlywed who never so much as kissed or held hands with her husband (though we really wanted to…) until we got married. SO, it sure hasn’t gotten old yet :^)
I think my parents were concerned that I was so virginal it would make it harder to be intimate, but I don’t think it did. Perhaps the opposite.
Just the same, I’ll try to keep up with the challenge
See how much I can spoil dear husband…
I should get our room cleaned back up, it tends to get so cluttered.
I like to keep matches and candles handy to light on little notice
And I saw the suggestion not to keep pictures of your kids in sight…. We don’t have any children yet, but I can see how that makes since…. Our marriage covenant and a wedding picture are at the wall nearest the foot of the bed, though.
Makes a nice thing to look at during afterglow
And, I payed extra for some satiny sheets at Wal-mart – one of the few things I’ve learned (I feel experienced but I’m still new at this!) it’s easier to be romantic when you have kingly softs sheet that make you feel like your man’s queen
Now I’ll sit back and read what ppl who’ve been doing this longer have to say

I’d like to be a part of this. I’m an American married to a wonderful Australian man living in Queensland, Australia. We will celebrate our second anniversary in March.
For most of the first year of our marriage, my husband has been suffering from depression…meaning he’s not in the mood very often…and we are seldom in synce because of this.
I’d love some help with this. I take it personally and that affects our marriage even more. I know that it is not personal. I know that the Lord is able to grant my husband victory over his depression and bring him out of it.
I’m hoping this topic can be touched on in light of God’s Word. How a wife is to responde when feeling neglected due to a husbands illness, whether physical or mental (depression). Help! I want to have a good attitude. I know I need to be wary of bitterness taking root.
This has been especially difficult as we talk of having children, but the action isn’t happening at the right time. I know this is all in God’s time and in His hands. I just want to be an encouragement and have the right attitude…and get beyond feeling neglected. I need some support.

And could you please address ways for women to gain control over their minds? I’ve found that my mind is the biggest hinderence for me in this area… I get distracted, anxious, unfocused, etc, at the worst possible times, which of course means that my body isn’t interested either!
I feel like this is beyond my control, but I suspect there’s something I can do to change this.

You will probably think I’m lying, and many others might too, but my mom quoted this same verse to me when I first got married!! Having sex with my husband, helps me on sooo many levels! Self-esteem-wise I feel great, because he actually still wants me after having 8 children! (God bless him!) And lets not forget stress relief for both of us as well!!
