S’mores- Things I Love Thursday (plus a GIVEAWAY!)

tilt I love s’mores. The gooey marshmallows, the rich chocolate and the crunchy graham cracker combine to make the most perfect spring, summer and fall treat. Maybe where you live you eat them in the winter too, but up here we are hibernating.

I prefer my marshmallows very burnt. Charred on the outside, all soft in the middle. There is an art to getting your marshmallows just perfect and sometimes you lose a few in the process, but it is worth it to get it just right. Just writing about it is making me hungry.

So imagine my delight when The Motherhood and Hershey’s asked me to participate in their summer Say S’mores campaign. So I get to have a party with my friends and eat s’mores and giveaway a s’mores package to my readers? Um, yes please.

So I rounded up a few of our friends and their adorable kids (including some newborn twins that I got to cuddle) and had a little party. Because The S’more, the Merrier Winking smile.

This summer, the Hershey Company is encouraging families to create their own S’mores memories with the Say S’mores campaign. Capture and share your favorite S’mores moments on the Hershey’s Facebook page for a chance to win S’mores-themed prizes. The grand-prize is a Canon Rebel Camera, slate marble outdoor firebowl, $250 SnapFish gift card, roasting skewers set and all of the ingredients needed to make S’mores, including Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars. Families who visit the Hershey’s brand Facebook page download the Say S’mores application to participate in monthly photo contests and receive a $1 coupon good toward the purchase of any two Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bar 6-packs.

I have a Hershey’s S’mores pack up for grabs so you can have a s’mores celebration as well. Feel free to invite me. To win, simply leave a comment telling me about your love for s’mores. For additional entries (you MUST leave a separate comment for each entry for it to count):

Contest is open to US only and the winner will be drawn at random on June 29th. Best of luck!!

What do you love this week? Link on up below and if you need any help make sure to check out the Things I Love Thursday guidelines. Thanks as always for joining in!

I love smores, though I double up my marshmallows – two in one – for the ultimate smore. I either take my time and get the marshmallows perfrectly golden brown or quickly burn them to get them charred and soft in the center. What a fun campaign!

Mmm..smores…I don’t like my marshmallow burnt. Just crispy golden on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. Of course, the chocolate isn’t too bad either. ;)

  10. Two times this week you’ve made my food seem bland. ;) I haven’t had a s’more since last summer. And now my planned snack of strawberries and cottage cheese just won’t do while baby is craving s’mores. Hehe.

  15. Smores….. yumm. I’m one of those people who like them slightly toasted. JUST slightly. My hubby likes them burnt. The Princess eats them without toasting at all. She always enjoys a deconstructed smore.

We go up to my dad’s lake cabin a couple of times every summer and smores is a HUGE tradition with us! All of my family (my grandparents have a cabin 2 houses down from my dad’s and cousins, aunts and uncles all come visit) sit around the fire and make yummy smores near the lake shore. Everyone has there own way of doing it but I like to put my chocolate on the grahm cracker and then set that on a stone near the fire so the chocolate can get warm and start to melt. Ok, just typing this is making me want a smore! I can’t wait for the 4th of July weekend! :)

I won’t lie–I am a marshmallow toasting EXPERT. I’m not patient in many things, but in cooking them? I realize that perfection can only be had by the slow cook over hot coals, and never by just throwing the marshmallow into the flame. :)
