My house has a lot of hard wood floors and tile. And for the life of me, outside of getting down on my hands and knees (no thank you), I have not found a good way to keep them clean. So I set out to find a steam mop that does its job on Twitter.
I heard from a few people, but one of the first people to respond was Oreck. And far from being spammy, they just seemed like company really excited about their product. I checked it out on various sites and was happy with what I was finding. This looked like a great product.
So I reached out to Oreck and asked them if they would be willing to send me their Grab-It & Steam-It. And they happily agreed.
Just so that I would be able to accurately review the cleaning powers of the Grab-It & Steam-It I didn’t wash my kitchen floor for a few weeks. That is my story and I am sticking to it. Ahem. It was pretty bad. Silas had colored on part of it with markers, there were several smushed Craisins stuck, and some apple cider had spilled next to the fridge.
Everyone knows before you mop you have to sweep. I hate sweeping. I sweep like 10 times a day because my life seems to be full of crumbs. But the Grab-It & Steam-It has BOTH a Turbo Broom AND a Steam Mop. So I am going to be kicking that nasty broom to the curb.
As for the nastiness of my floor. It was no match for the Grab-It & Steam-It. It has a steam dial so you can choose how much steam you want depending the kind of floor you are cleaning. Since my floor was pretty gross I dialed it up kind of high for hard wood, but in the future, hard woods can be cleaned on the lowest setting. And it has a crazy long cord which allowed me to do three rooms in my house without unplugging it.
A few of the stains that had been there for longer than I care to admit were a little bit more challenging to get up, but with a few times over the spots and a little help from my finger nail, they came right up. My bathrooms and bedrooms that were far less foul were super easy to clean. My parents even noted when they came over how great my floors looked.
One of my favorite things about the Grab-It & Steam-It is that it takes NO chemicals to clean. One of my goals for 2012 (and why not start a little early) is to clean up our cleaning. So it is really important to me to have equipment that lets me do so. It also uses washable cleaning pads so I am not throwing things away with every use. Green cleaning!
The downsides I see is that has a swiveling head which allows it to get into tight spaces and corners. While that is an awesome feature, sometimes the head starts to swivel when you don’t want it to. And to be honest there are some edges and corners that it just can’t get to. But in its defense I am not sure if there is anything that does it better.

I didn’t even know this product existed so I learned a lot! But what I like most is that you don’t have to sweep first.
I really want one now!!
I never knew it could be used on carpet too. Thanks!
I love that there are no chemicals involved. so much safer for kids.
Thanks@
I love that this sanitizes the area & can heat up in about a minute. I am a mom of 4 boys & own a daycare.. so this would be a huge help for me & keeping germs away. You have no idea how often I have to sweep & mop the kitchen (especially with potty chairs out there too!) and this would really help cut 1 of those steps out while sanitizing too!
I love products that you are able to reuse instead of buying more cloths and more solution for this to work it’s actually saving you money in the long run.

l Not sure if I did this right, since it was my first time LOL. I blogged about Shutterfly.
It has a 30-foot cord which means fewer stops to change outlets, and it makes for speedier cleaning.

I learned that it can be used on carpet or bare floors
I learned that it can be used on all floors. I would LOVE it for my kitchen and wood floors
Gets hot enough to remove e-coli, staph and salmonella. Gross but awesome.

I learned that it does not use any chemical all that you need is water, and that it heats up fast and is ready to steam in only about a min.

I love that it sweeps AND steams! I also love that you can adjust the amount of steam. I have been looking for something for my wood floors since I built my house. That’s almost 7 years! The only cleaning method I’ve been satisfied with so far is getting on my hands and knees and scrubbing by hand. I don’t want to do that anymore so I need to win!
I didn’t know anything about this product, but I was excited to read on the website that it can clean low-pile carpets and rugs as well as hard floors. Very cool!
it is a multipurpose cleaner can be used for carpet or floors
