Love Story- Part 1

This Wednesday I will celebrate 9 years of wedded bliss with my hubby. Which means that this Wednesday will also mark the 10 1/2 year anniversary of our first date (see how we did that and made it easy on ourselves?). I am not sure I have ever told our story in its entirety and what better occasion then now?

Once upon a time there was a girl who was in a train wreck of a long term relationship. She knew she should have been out of it months, probably years ago, but she hasn’t. She is also finding her way back to her faith. She did her own thing through her college years, but now she is ready to embrace a better way. And finding a church and attending again is like finding her way home.

Once upon a time there was a boy. He had built up so many train wreck relationships that he has called the whole dating thing off. No women, no dating, not even flirting (so he says) for a year so that he can concentrate on new-ish relationship with God.

As the girl gets more invested in her church, the old relationship seems less and less appealing and she begins to cut ties. Exhausted from years of drama she is ready to take her own break from men. She focuses instead on making good friends and finding her way back to the person she wants to be. And she rediscovered her love of singing. It was singing where she found her tribe.

It was singing that brought her to church that night. Her first Wednesday night service ever. He was a regular at the Wednesday night services. He would watch her sing on stage and think, “Hmmmm…..I’d like to meet her.” She was oblivious to his existence, but wouldn’t be for long.
