First let me just say to all of you who read my blog post yesterday, that story was from about 3 years ago. I am very happy at my current church and am not leaving. I am sure all of you that enjoy my presence every weekend are quite relieved 
I also seem to have a lot of new readers. So welcome!!! I am so glad you are here. I try and visit you when you comment, but I am so behind right now so be patient with me. And come back anyway cause I have got some riviting material in the line up. Well, not really, but I have some mediocre stories about boobs and poop so that should be good.
So part of the reason I am behind is because I have been sleeping all day. Yes, it was heavenly, but it was drug induced. Not the bad kind, but the good kind. The doctor administered kind. Although when the anesthesiologist injected it into my IV he said, “Here comes the hooch” and I instantly knew I was in good hands. And I think as it began to take affect I said, “Whoo, this reminds me of some good times in college.” My mother was so proud. Apparently I also said, “While you’re in there, can you see about making me a C cup? That would be awesome.” I blame the drugs.
You see, today, I got a lump removed. All signs point to the fact that it is just a cyst, but since my mom and aunt are breast cancer survivors we decided to just get rid of it. Surgery went really well and my friend brought me the yummiest homemade chicken pot pie ever so that made it so worth it. And I got to get pampered all day and to take a 4 hour nap so that was delightful.
Let’s back up a little. You see, a few months ago, I was reading a blog I enjoy, Holy Mama!, and I took note of a monthly post she writes. Every month on the 17th, she reminds her readers to do a self breast exam. And that month I paid attention. And I found a lump. And I got it checked out which led me to today. And the embarrasing comments while under sedation.
So if you knew and you prayed for me, thanks. If you didn’t, that’s OK, I was a bit private about the whole affair. Until now obviously, when I am broadcasting it to the whole world. But the reason I am doing that is to encourage you to do your self breast exam. If you have never done it before, here is a tutorial with some VERY detailed pictures. I am hoping maybe my blog can do for you what another blog did for me. And I am praying that your results turn out well also. So go grab some boobies!!

Jill, glad to hear everything came out OK. Kudos to you for getting everything checked out.
My aunt died several years ago (she was only 42) from inflammatory breast cancer. It’s the kind that doesn’t form a lump or tumor; it just sort of sprinkles cancer cells all over your breasts like salt & pepper. The kind she had can only be detected by mammogram and even then it’s not foolproof. By the time she discovered it it was too late. So I’d just like to add to remember to always have your annual appointments, and get those mammograms if you are over forty (as unpleasant as I’ve heard they are – I’m still below the forty mark). Your doctor might be able to find something that’s undetectable to you.
Thank you for this post. I’m going to check out the website because I’m a little rusty on the form and function of “booby grabbing”!

Praise God! I am sooooo glad that you found your lump and had it removed. Glad, too, that it looks like it is just a cyst. I would like to encourage all to get mammograms regularly. My breast cancer could not be felt during an exam, but was found by my mammogram. We must be vigilant!!

So glad that you are doing well. I hate to be ‘that person’ the day after your surgery – but I do believe that TLC’s best hit was “No Scrub” – or whatever it is called. All I know is that ‘I don’t want no scrub, a scrub is a guy that gets no love from me. Or perhaps he is a guy hanging out the side of his best friend’s ride, trying to holler at me… I can’t recall.’
I would be more on the ball about posting on relevant days, but I am giving myself a self-provided pass for being late due to newborn in la casa.
Full recovery and negative results are still in our thoughts and prayers.

Glad that everything is looking okay! I had surgery a couple weeks ago for some other female anatomy concerns. Evidently I just snored under sedation and they had to put something in my mouth to keep me from swallowing my tongue. Good times.
I’ve decided to opt for early mammograms + MRI for baseline because of 1)size 2) family history. Now its just convincing the insurance company this is a good thing.
Thanks for reminding all of us to do our exams!

Thanks for the reminder. I too had a lump removed three years ago when my youngest son was 2 months old and my oldest was almost 2. It turned out to be a lipoma the size of an egg. Crises averted, prayers answered. I just ran the Race for the Cure for the first time and will do it every year now. Amazing sisterhood of women. Happy healing to you!
