Frugal Friday- Marshalls and TJMaxx

frugalfridayYes, I know I have blogged about my love for the Maxx and Marshalls before. But I am a lover of shopping and an even bigger lover of a bargain and these 2 stores combine those two loves into one big puffy heart. So imagine my complete delight when I was approached to participate in their “Spendervention” in which they are reminding people that they don’t have to sacrifice quality and style to look gorgeous. Now, I realize to some, truly being frugal would be sacrificing having new stuff at all. But that is totally not realistically ever going to happen for this fashionista, so I am all about the bargain.

Alas, there isn’t much for a fashionista to do at those stores when she is pregnant. Unless she is ingenious and creative as I am . I firmly believe when you are preggo, it is all about the accessories. So I headed over to Marshalls in search of some new shoes or a smashing purse. Not a ton of luck in the shoe department (this could be because I already own too many sandals-bad frugal girl), but I scored in the purse department. Note to all fashionistas. Do not go purse shopping with a 3 yo. Hannah’s idea of a rockin’ purse and mine were 2 very, very, VERY different things. Hopefully, we can refine her tastes as she gets older.

Here is what I scored for $20.

Do you love it? I love that is in an animal print, but doesn’t scream “I live in the jungle”. Hannah even approved. To round out my $25 gift card, I picked up a toy for a birthday party Lily is going to this week and a bag of Jelly Belly’s. Don’t judge, I am pregnant.

Then I headed over to TJMaxx and after poking around for a while landed in the home section where I scored these throw pillows to round out my bed. I had eyed them before, but didn’t pull the trigger. Two pillows for $20. That is a deal even Target would have a hard time beating.

I am not sure you can get the full effect cause the lighting in my bedroom stinks, but needless to say, I am jazzed. To round out my $25 gift card, I threw in a basting brush (cause mine keep falling apart) and a plastic measuring cup (cause mine keep breaking).

What I love about these stores is that even a preggo can score good deals. For $50, I got something for me, something for a gift, and some things for my home. And while I was at TJMaxx, I ran into my mother in law who was buying clothes for my girls. You can get a deal in a variety of departments and something for the whole family. I would say the jelly beans are for my hubby, but who are we kidding. He can baste something with the brush.

Hmmm… love the bag. And the pillows too. Although I wish we had Maxx’s store HomeGoods where you just get more options for the home (a store full).
