Easy Valentine’s Ideas- Works For Me Wednesday

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I have no idea what we are doing. I usually just buy some lame store bought cards and we call it a day. Then Pinterest came along and suddenly my store bought cards seem inadequate. Okay who are we kidding, I will probably still do the store bought thing, but for today we are going to pretend I am a crafty mom. Which one are you loving?

I have a whole lotta crayons in this house. I could probably make enough of these to give the whole school. They look easy. Then again, crafts and I don’t exactly go together like peas and carrots.

Aren’t these adorable. I have a STRONG affinity for the Tootsie Pop. But this one looks like it requires things like glue sticks and paper punchers. So it might be out of my

Perhaps this Tootsie Pop idea is more manageable. Hannah loves butterflies. And surely that is a stamp right? Cause I would DEFINITELY get a hand cramp writing all those words.

I think this is beyond adorable. And I am thinking this would KILL IT in the 3rd grade. And I am pretty sure I can still make a mean friendship bracelet. It is like riding a bike?

I have quite the thing for the mustache trend. This is CRAZY cute!! Can I do this and send out Valentine’s?

I feel like my girls wouldn’t be so into these, but I am keeping them in mind for when Silas hits school. All boys hit a pirate phase right? Right now we are smack dab in the middle of the planes, trains and automobiles phase (Those Aren’t Pillows!!!)

I think these are super cute. And they alleviate the embarrassment when you kid is the only one in class who didn’t stick candy in their Valentine (seriously, have you noticed this?). I am just wondering where you find all the shovels for a reasonable price. Any ideas?

Ok these are totally doable. My kids would pass out if I let them take goldfish to school. They are on the no processed food list. In fact, if I sent these to school with them they would probably sit and eat them all in the bathroom before handing them out…..

These seem easy too. And super adorable. So far they are majorly in the running. Plus they remind me of the Simpson’s episode where Ralph gives Lisa the "I choo choose you" Valentine. Classic. And totally unrelated. Anywho….

I think these are the winners. I simply print out a template on a printer (I can do that!!!) and my kids color them to look like their classmates. I just love everything about this. Mostly the idea that glue sticks aren’t involved.

What do you do for your kid’s class Valentine’s?

Best 2012 Golden Globe Fashions- Top Ten Tuesday

In another life I would be a fashion blogger. I love fashion. Love looking at it. Love shopping for it. Just don’t like posting pictures of myself IN it. And I have an accessory disorder. I stink at accessorizing.

So instead I READ fashion blogs, buy fashion magazines and sit through extremely boring award shows drooling over high fashion. Just for fun, I thought I would give you my top ten picks for best dressed at the Golden Globes.

  1. ReeseWitherspoon-GoldenGlobeAwards011512_052916 Reese Witherspoon: Ever since her divorce from Ryan Philippe it seems Reese has made it her mission to make him regret it. She looks amazing. Her bedroom hair, the red and that dress that fits her like a glove. Well done Reese.
  2. SofiaVergara-GoldenGlobeAwards011512_085940 Sofia Vergara: When you have curves like her, show them off!! Navy is one of my personal faves for black tie affairs. The detailing on the bottom of the dress is just stunning. And apparently 5 MILLION dollars worth of jewels is the proper way to accessorize.
  3. kate-winslet-290 Kate Winslet: Another woman who doesn’t hide that she is a little curvy (well by Hollywood standards, she is probably a size 6). I love the simplicity of this dress while at the same time being insanely classy. I can almost forgive her the fact that she is dating someone who changed his last name to Rocknroll.
  4. CharlizeTheron-GoldenGlobeAwards011512_052848 Charlize Theron: Aside from a really unfortunate choice for the Oscars one night, she really can do little wrong. And while I am normally not a fan of plunging necklines like this, she somehow makes it look tasteful and elegant. I think she looks like modern “Old Hollywood”.
  5. JessicaAlba-GoldenGlobeAwards011512_052900 Jessica Alba: I hate including a woman who gave birth 6 months ago and looks like this. But she is really too darn cute to hate. And this dress is just beautiful. I love the banding around the waist and the flowing train. Nice work Jessica!
  6. EvanRachelWood-GoldenGlobeAwards011512_063027 Evan Rachel Wood: I know this dress is a bit on the odd side, but since Evan Rachel Wood is a bit odd herself I think she totally works it. Those are real feathers on the bottom. She looks like a beautiful peacock.
  7. NicoleKidman-GoldenGlobeAwards011512_075402 Nicole Kidman: This is another one that is a bit different. But the fit is amazing and with her red hair the gold detailing just works. Plus Nicole has never been one to play it safe when it comes to fashion. Makes me wish I was a little more risky (not that yoga pants with worn out elastic aren’t risky…..)
  8. zooey-deschanel-290 Zoey Deschanel: Apparently I am drawn to the different. First of all I adore her. And her quirky little self needs something a little different. Plus her nails were painted like tuxedos. Adorable.
  9. jane fonda Jane Fonda: ok this woman is 74. Seventy- four. Sure she probably has had a bit of work done, but she makes the list anyway. Cause she is 74 and looks this good. Nuf’ said.
  10. emma-stone-290 Emma Stone: I saved the best for last. This dark burgundy dress is just beautiful. I love the belt, love the Grecian look and love the little cap sleeves. She is always one of my favorites on the red carpet, especially for a newbie. Just love it.

Top Ten Christmas Gifts We Are Still Loving a Week Later- Top Ten Tuesday

christmaspresent

How is that for a long winded title. We had three Christmases last week (an awesomely still have one more to go) and I must admit my kids got some great toys. So in case you need some gift ideas for upcoming birthdays I will let you know what the biggest hits are.

  1. Books: Since my girls are big readers they got a LOT of books for Christmas. Hannah got a Dora anthology and The Big Red Book of Beginner Books. I love a good anthology. Lily got the Roald Dahl Box Set  (which I love that she desperately wanted for Christmas) and an Ivy & Bean Box Set. Both sets have been devoured quite quickly. Sam got some Thomas the Train board books which are also in heavy rotation.
  2. Bible: Lily sincerely asked for a bible for Christmas this year. She has some children’s ones we have accumulated over the years, but she wanted a “grown up” one. We got her one with daily devotions in it and we have been doing them every night before bed. I am so treasuring this time with her and it is helping me read my bible daily as well. Two birds, one stone.
  3. Drawsome Tablet: I was feeling really guilty that Lily was not getting many “fun” presents but grown up gifts. We got a Wii last year as a family present and Lily is by far the biggest fan. So when I was asked to review Ubisoft’s new Drawsome tablet. It is a handheld tablet that you can draw on with a stylus and your art is projected onto the screen. You can even use their tutorials to learn how to draw all sorts of cool things (including Smurfs). It takes a while to get the hang of, but Lily loves it. It combines her love of art with her love of technology. Perfect.
  4. Lightning McQueen Ride On Car: Silas doesn’t know Disney Cars from generic cars, but I felt bad he was “driving” around one of his sisters’ hand me down ride on toys. He rides this thing all over the house and is the happiest little guy on it. He got a whole host of various car things for Christmas and loves them all.
  5. Design Your Own Soccer Ball Kit: This was a HUGE hit with Hannah. She loved soccer last fall and the fact that she gets a fancy ball that she painted herself is just the coolest. Plus the art project kept her entertained for days.
  6. Dream Dazzlers Ooh La La Sassy Salon: Ever since I took Hannah to my salon and she experienced someone washing her hair backwards over a sink, she has become obsessed with the idea. So a salon where she gets to do the same was her biggest wish for Christmas. And because she likes to be pampered and Lily LOVES to flex her fashionista muscles, this toy is really a win-win for both of them. They play with it for hours and I try and pretend it is not a giant piece of plastic made in China.
  7. Vtech – MobiGo Touch Learning System: I was provided with a MobiGo to review and decided that it would make the perfect present for Hannah. But the nice thing is there are so many different levels of games that all three kids have been loving it. You can buy cartridges at the stores, but I like the ones you can download off the VTech site and I love those because they are all very educational. I am not a fan of kids being plugged into electronics much but when they are, I want them to be learning something. And this one is small and perfect for car rides!!
  8. Crafts: The last several years I have been asking for craft projects for the girls. They love doing them and I love that our house isn’t filled with more plastic toys. This year between the two of them they got a bracelet kit, a necklace kit, a scrapbooking kit, and Perler Beads. Besides finding the Perler beads all over the floor, those things are my absolute favorite. I will be replenishing our stock until the girls have absolutely exhausted playing with them. Entertainment for hours!
  9. Detroit Red Wings Team Gnome: In case you haven’t been around here long, Ryan is a giant lover of all things Red Wings. So when the kids saw this gnome hanging out at Meijer, they insisted we get it for him for Christmas. I loved seeing his face when they gave it to him. Priceless (or only $16.99)
  10. Cash: Yep. I just asked for cash. But I had a plan. Hello Lover! (seriously these make me all kinds of happy)

What was your favorite Christmas present you got or gave this year?
