All Because Two People Fell In Love

December 28, 2009

wedding-ring   My parents are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary today. Which means 40 years ago a decision was made that I wasn’t remotely a part of but which has arguably had more of an impact on my life than any other decision I have ever made.

My parents have an inspirational marriage. Not because it is perfect, but because it is real. Because despite some hard times and, like all marriages, times where it may have been an easier decision to throw in the towel, they stuck it out. And I am forever blessed by that legacy. As are my children. And frankly my children’s children will be too.

So thanks Mom and Dad for modeling an imperfect marriage that in its imperfectness is absolutely perfect. Here’s to 40 more years!!

She also has a devoted husband who graciously puts up with this little internet hobby. They all probably wishes she would exercise a bit more discretion as she shares their life's ups, downs and in-betweens with anyone willing to read it. You can (almost always) find her on Twitter @DiaperDiaries.

I love hearing about couples that have been married a long time. We live in a society that seems so divorce driven- it’s refreshing to see couples sticking with it through the hard times and come out stronger than before. Congrats to your parents!

Please tell your parents Happy Anniversary from me. They truly are an inspirational couple. I think of them often and am very grateful to know a great couple in a Christ-centered marriage. Still bummed that my plane ticket to Florida got lost in the mail! :)

Congrats to your parents! Sounds like you truly know how blessed you are, which is so good and important. So many people take something like this for granted. I am a child of divorce, and will be the first to say, there’s nothing more important to family than two parents who stick with eachother through falling in and out of love because of their promise! And in the end, everyone (including them) benefits so much!
    Happy 40th to your parents!

Your parents are amazing. They inspire some of us who didn’t grow up with such an amazing example of marriage, but want to know ‘how it’s done’. God Bless them!!

I am truly blessed by God that He gave me such a loving husband who has put up with me for 40 years after going together for 7 before that!!! And our dream for wonderful children couldn’t have been answered more completely!
