8 Sticks Of Butter

November 8, 2009

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

butter I lost eight sticks of butter off my body last week. The month before that I lost 80. But that was in the form of the cutest baby boy on the planet (seriously, this boy is something else!!). And now…..only 120 sticks left. Here’s the deal. I am trying so hard to be realistic about taking off this baby weight, but I also know how my body works after doing this two times before.

Those Hollywood starlets who tell you the weight just magically drops off with those 500 extra breastfeeding calories you burn. Those starlets aren’t me. Actually I don’t really know who they are, but they aren’t me. My body instead decides when it is nursing to hold every single pound hostage just in case I decide to stop eating and my boobs have to live off the extra reserves.

So I am back on Spark People counting every single Snickers fun size calorie. And it is ridiculously un-fun. Not near as fun as eating everything I want in the name of pregnancy. And I swear I am trying to abide by the whole “it took 9 months to put it on…” philosophy, but dang it sucks to fit into nothing in your closet. And so I am ridiculously impatient, one month post baby.

So I will probably keep you updated here and there. Well if I lose anything, I will keep you posted. If I remain all squishy in the middle, I will just keep that between me and my love handles. And my Snickers fun size….

I’ll take your sticks of butter and make cinnamon rolls.
I currently have enough butter to stock four Costcos.
    mmm.
Keep up the good work lady.

For me, the breastfeeding weight loss didn’t kick in until Baby Boy was 6 months old. And then the pounds literally started dropping off. It was the weirdest thing…with my oldest I only breastfed her until she was 5 months, so I never saw much weight loss. But with this one…I actually went to the doctor because I lost so much weight. But I’m naturally on the thin side, so maybe that made the difference. Anyway, just a random thought. :)

Good for you for being disciplined. I know it’s hard! I was one of those who lost 45 lbs in the first 6 weeks post partum. But I was also overweight when I got pregnant, so it was weight that needed to go any way.

Good luck with this process! Keep up the good work!

Good luck with loosing the baby weight. I know it can take awhile. I get to start on that little journey (for the third time as well) in the next week and a half–depending on when this little over due munchkin decides to come out to play!

I would call the whole breastfeeding weight loss thing a myth, but really it’s just a LIE so let’s call a spade a spade, shall we?

I nursed my son for almost two years and didn’t lose his baby weight.

And I need to blame someone besides me, right? :)

Girl, I keep the baby weight until the kid is old enough to stress me out at the dinner table– then, since I can’t manage to get anything in my own mouth, the weight falls right off. :P
